Donald Trump said America would immediately provide insurance for shipping lines traveling through

the strait of Hormuz, and that the Navy would escort oil tankers if necessary.

The details of the plan remain unclear.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran's Praetorian Guard,

declared Hormuz closed on Monday,

warning it would set ablaze any ship that passes.

The route transports a third of global seaborne crude
