Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-CA) is directing the shutdown from behind the scenes. 5:15pm- During a press conference on Wednesday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries dabbled in hyperbole as well—accusing Republicans of stealing “food from the mouths of hungry children” 5:20pm- In posts to social media, President Trump shared satirical memes of Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer wearing sombreros with mariachi music playing in the background. Democrats and media members have labeled the memes as “deep fakes”—but they’re comically fake! No one would ever confuse them for anything other than edited. Vice President JD Vance joked: “I'll tell Hakeem Jeffries right now—I make this solemn promise to you, that if you help us reopen the government, the sombrero memes will stop.” 5:40pm- Dr. EJ Antoni—Chief Economist at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show! He discusses the withdrawal of his nomination to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics and explains that he simply didn’t have the necessary number of Senators who were willing to meet with him.
