Good morning, everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Tuesday, June 2nd. Here are your five things.

Number one, the fund. The Trump administration appears to be retreating on plans to create

that nearly $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund as they first deemed it, really signaling to Republicans on the

hill that they may drop the whole thing altogether after they face pretty broad GOP pushback.

The DOJ compensation fund paid for by taxpayers. It's really basically seen as tone deaf and even

called deeply offensive by members of the president's own party. Several Republican senators now say that they won't move ahead with funding for ICE and border patrol until this fund,

seen as designed to pay out Trump's allies, is dead.

A federal court already put it on hold with another hearing set for next week.

DOJ released a statement yesterday saying that they would abide by the order. But that's not enough for many lawmakers.

Here's the top Republican in the Senate.

I do think that the best way to him is in the restrictions

besides, shut it down their service.

President Trump has not yet said publicly what he's willing to do,

as this becomes a surprising

face-off of sorts with his own party.

Number two, the primary.

It is a big day for the midterms.

Voters heading to the polls in six states.

California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, South Dakota.

California is definitely grabbing the most attention, though.

It's strangish primary system there allows for the top two vote getters to advance to the general election, regardless of what party they're in.

For Gov there, that has Democrat Javier Bacera leading the field in the latest polling with Republican Steve Hilton and Democrat Tom Steyer close behind.
