Tylenol use in pregnancy is stirring debate.

On Monday, President Trump and top federal health officials announced a possible link between autism and the use of Tylenol, acinaminephine, in pregnancy.

They point to a recent Harvard-led meta-analysis of 46 studies with around

100,000 participants that found a, quote, association between prenatal acetaminephine use and neurodevelopmental

disorders, including autism. Trump said the FDA will advise doctors to recommend

Tylenol only for, quote, extremely high fever, during pregnancy, and will update acetaminophen

labeling. Many in the medical community disagree. They note that other studies have found no link

between acetaminophen and autism

and argue that untreated fevers pose a greater risk to the baby. Meanwhile, federal officials

have fast-tracked a label change for leucovorin, a decades-old drug typically prescribed to cancer
