48% of those riding the New York City buses, New York Transit System, don't pay the fare.

I mean, it's almost unbelievable.

How are they able to get on?

Did the bus drivers just looked the other way.

This is sort of personal to me because when I was growing up, I spent a lot of time taking the buses

because I lived in what's called a too fair zone in New York, a meeting. You had to take a bus

to get to the train. So I had to take about a 15-minute bus ride to get to the Sheep's Head Bay Station in Brooklyn. It's much better to live within walking distance of a train station. But, you know, at that time, you had to put, there was like a coin machine up front and you had to put in the right number of quarters or dimes or maybe it would be a dollar bill and some change depending on the fare at the time.

And even if you didn't have the exact change, bus driver would not let you on.

I guess times have changed.

My column today is about centriism and more explicitly moving to the center or attempting to move

this center, which is what both Kamala Harris and

Donald Trump are doing right now.

And they're being asked to explain it, but at the same time, it's a classic general election

strategy, you know, I mean, much shorter period of time, obviously for Kamala, but during the primaries, you're focused,

and particularly these two candidates, and riling up your base and making sure that your supporters,

liberal, conservative, turn out. But now it's kind of edging toward the center or spreading
