America, we got to get back to doing what's expected of us as free citizens in this democracy.

That means being tolerant, being respectful, staying informed, and being engaged.

Turns out that Donald Trump and my former political party do not believe at all in that America.

A beacon for people around the world who want to be free, who want freedom, who want opportunity for a better

life, a job, make some money, become something. And for years, people around the world have

looked at America as that place, that shining

city on a hill, that you can come to baby and you can become something.

Hope and opportunity.

And I know, right, when I say things like this, Trump supporters undoubtedly say, yeah, Joe, we welcome everybody, but you got to come here legally.

We welcome legal immigrants, Joe, not people who come here illegally.

Turns out that's not true.

Turns out that Donald Trump and my former political party don't want any immigrants here.

Legal or illegal.

They don't want any immigrants to come here, especially brown and black

immigrants. They don't want America to be that destination, to be that shining city on a hill,
