With just over 100 days until the midterms, Donald Trump is going all out in his efforts to undermine free and fair elections.

Votebeat is reporting that Donald Trump has decapitated the agency in charge of

helping states administer their elections. They write this, quote, President Donald Trump

fired all three remaining members of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission on Thursday,

abruptly disabling the only federal agency devoted solely to election administration at a moment when Trump has sought to reshape federal voting rules.

The firings leave the four-member commission with no commissioners, meaning it cannot take official action until new members are installed.

The firings also come days after the Supreme Court granted the President

power to fire leaders of independent agencies, weakening a legal framework that for decades

has insulated bipartisan federal commissions from direct White House control. Trump fired the two

Democratic members, while the Republican was very generously allowed to resign, leaving the

organization, which was created by Congress, leaderless heading into the midterms. Politico notes

that the agency has long been in Trump's crosshairs. They write that, quote, Trump issued an

executive order in March of 2025, demanding that the EAC changed the national

voter registration form to require proof of citizenship, which was blocked by a federal judge.

He also sought to block the EAC from distributing funds to states that did not adjust voter forms

to have a citizenship check, which was similarly blocked in court.

All of this comes as Donald Trump appears willing to try every trick in the books to take control

of our elections. Earlier today, saying that he refuses to sign a bipartisan housing bill

until Congress passes the SAVE Act. As Arizona, Secretary of State, Adrian Fontez,

put it, it is irresponsible and dangerous that this administration remains dead set on causing
