Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney,

and host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on SiriusXM's Urban View, Channel 126.

Now, my show on Urban View has a pretty diverse audience,

and while the demographics include a majority of black listeners,

by my estimation, roughly a third are white.

And on the show, we get to have some honest conversations about race, gender, culture, identity,

politics, and the law. And these conversations include participants from a cross-section

of the American population. Now, while every community has its trolls, it also has

its higher angels. And these are the people who seek to make the world a better place. Now, when it

comes to members of the white community, I refer to those higher angels as the righteous, the

righteous. This is a group or a term rather that describes white people who are

seeking to use their privilege, their access, and their resources, whatever it may look like

to dismantle the systems of oppression that benefit them and which harm other people. Now, to be

clear, I did not come up with the term, Righteous, Wichess. This is one of the terms that I learned from Feminista Jones, a renowned educator, writer,

public speaker, and community activists.

And I use the term regularly to describe the members of my audience who seek to use whatever

power they have and who happen to be doing so with white bodies to make this world a more equitable

one. So when I interviewed Chris Cluey, former NFL punter and activist on my serious XM show,

and I heard him say this. White people need to understand that Donald Trump is a white person

problem. We are the ones who voted him into office. Like it's, we made the mess.

We got to clean it up.
