3:05pm- On Friday, federal prosecutors unsealed a 49-page indictment of former President Donald Trump detailing his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving office. The indictment includes numerous federal charges—31 counts “related to withholding national defense information, 5 related to concealing possession of classified documents, and 2 false statements”, according to The New York Times. In a statement made during his press conference, special counsel Jack Smith defended the Trump indictment, explaining: “We have one set of laws in this country, and they apply to everyone.” He did not take questions from the press. 3:30pm- According to a recent poll, a majority of Republicans said they would still vote for Donald Trump in a general election against Joe Biden—even if the former president is convicted of a crime.

3:40pm- While appearing on ABC’s This Week, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said it was “absolutely ridiculous” that former President Donald Trump had been charged under the Espionage Act. Sen. Graham noted that Bill Clinton—host George Stephanopoulos’ former boss—famously mishandled classified documents and yet was never charged with any crimes. Is there a double standard?

3:50pm- While appearing on CNN, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy implored the media to “restore journalism in this country” and to properly question whether elements of the federal government have become politicized.

4:05pm- Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz—Author of “Get Trump: The Threat to Civil Liberties, Due Process and Our Constitutional Rule of Law”—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his latest Wall Street Journal editorial, “A Strong Trump Indictment—But Is It Strong Enough?” Professor Dershowitz writes, “[w]hen an incumbent administration prosecutes the leading candidate against the president, it should have a case that is so compelling that it attracts the kind of bipartisan support that forced Nixon to resign. 4:30pm- While visiting a Waffle House in Georgia, Donald Trump spoke to a crowd of supports—speaking about the indictment over his mishandling of classified documents, he said: “We did nothing wrong!”

4:45pm- While speaking with Dana Bash on CNN, Congressman Jim Jordan explained that although Hillary Clinton violated the law by mishandling classified documents, then-President Donald Trump decided it was not in the nation’s best interest to politicize the federal government and prosecute a political rival. Jordan drew a distinction between the Trump Administration’s caution and the Biden administration’s reckless prosecutorial aggression.
