It's the media buzz meter with Howard Kurtz.

I was on Fox News Live over the weekend,

anchored by my colleague Kevin Cork.

We'd like to play off each other.

And I was saying, the question was,

who won the messaging war over the shutdown?

You remember the shutdown.

All right, Howie.

Winners and losers from the shutdown.

And did the Democrats get anything out of this at all?

And I said that clearly Donald Trump had, while the Democrats who wanted to extend, you know,

the paralysis for another month are just living on another planet, but that Trump paid a

political price because he was perceived as, let's just say, less than compassionate as he fought

tooth and nail to keep money out of the SNAP program. But this came as a political price

for the president. For example, he seemed so determined, Kevin, not to allow any funding, moving of money for

the SNAP, food stamp program, 42 million Americans, and even threatened states that want

to provide their own money.

So that didn't exactly paint him as being compassionate.

Millions of hungry families, 42 million anyway.

So then Kevin said, well, this only lasts through January.

I think it's the end of January.

Are we back here again in January?
