President Donald Trump has fired the Labor Statistics Commissioner over the jobs numbers. Without evidence, he accused Dr. Erica McIntyrefer of manipulating the monthly job report for, quote, political purposes.

The latest report showed the U.S. added 73,000 jobs last month, far below

expectations. It also sharply revised down the employment growth that had been previously reported in May and June,

by a combined 258,000 jobs. After the revisions, the jobs report showed the weakest pace of hiring for any three-month

period since the pandemic recession in 2020.

On Truth Social, Trump also accused, again without evidence, McIntarfer of faking the

jobs data before the election to boost former Vice President Kamala Harris' chances in last year's

presidential election. CNN has reached out to McIntyre for comment.

Meanwhile, President Trump says he ordered two nuclear submarines to be strategically positioned near Russia.

That's in response to what he said were aggressive remarks by a Russian official.

Dimitri Medvedev, who has been sparring with Trump online for the past several days,

made reference to Russia's Soviet-era automatic retaliatory nuclear strike capabilities,

after Trump told him to quote, watch his words.

Medvedev has no power to launch Russia's nuclear weapons.
