Donald Trump reportedly delayed by 90 days tariffs that were due to hit exports from China.

The extension of the tariff truce is meant to allow trade negotiations

between the countries to continue. America's effective tariff rate on China is still high

and more than 50%. Meanwhile, Mr. Trump said, without elaborating, that gold imports would not be

subject to tariffs.

Israel killed five journalists, including Anas al-Sharif, a prominent reporter in Gaza.

They all worked for the Al-Jazeera News Channel.

Israel's army said it targeted Mr. Al-Sharif for being a member of Hamas.

The Committee to Protect Journalists, an American NGO, criticized Israel's failure to provide

credible evidence for its accusation. Meanwhile, Australia said it would recognize a Palestinian

state in September, after receiving

certain commitments from the Palestinian Authority.

Mr. Trump ordered the National Guard to Washington, D.C., and placed the city's police force

under federal control. The president invoked a law that enables him to take control

of the capital's police in the case of special conditions of an emergency. He said that the city has
