The Justice Department has announced the creation of a new fund that would compensate allies

of President Donald Trump who claimed they were unfairly targeted by the previous administration.

It comes as Trump's attorneys moved this morning to drop his $10 billion lawsuit against

the IRS.

Trump had sued the agency and the Treasury Department accusing them of leaking his tax returns

during the first Trump administration.

And this was wild in its own right, the President of the United States suing the government

he runs, and legal experts said there would have been all kinds of complications.

But this new fund totaling $1.776 billion takes things a step further.

The move would allow the President's administration to pay his supporters from a government

agency he controls with taxpayer money.

Now we know that retribution and helping his allies, he has a big focus for the president,

but even though the president is not expected to directly benefit from this fund, that is

unlikely going to quell the significant political blowback he is

already facing over this idea. It is unclear exactly where these funds are coming from, but

these are going to be taxpayer funds. And the idea that this would potentially enrich his allies,

this is something the Democrats are crying foul over already before we've even gotten details.
