Donald Trump said he would not sack Jerome Powell, the chair of the Federal Reserve,

after reports that he discussed the plans with Republican congressmen on Tuesday.

Mr. Trump reportedly brandished a letter demanding

Israel bombed Syria's defense ministry in Damascus, the country's capital.
