Happy Monday. I am here. As I said to you on the last broadcast, if McKenzie Gore got traded,

you might have to, I might be hibernating somewhere or worse, but McKenzie Gore did not get

traded. The nationals in theory have a future, although what that future is.

I guess the theory, we all have a future.

The question is, is it a good future or is it a bleak future?

I have a lot more to say about the Nats.

I'm actually going to hold off and do it towards the end of the podcast.

I want to be respectful for why you subscribe.

I know some of you subscribe because you are curious what I have to say with the Nats. And I have a lot to say.

But I'm going to assume that it is not the majority of you on that front. My guest today is an old friend of mine, a longtime journalism

pal, Ron Fournier, he spent a lion's share of his professional career at the Associated Press,

covering the Clinton White House and Bush White House very thoroughly back in the day,

has been in and out of journalism since then.

It was an editor-in-chief of National Journal at one point.

He's a Michigan native.

He lives in Michigan.

He does communications consulting now.

Has a terrific substack that I've been enjoying.

His daughter babysat for now my senior in college. It'll make us both

feel old on that one. Sorry, Ron. And so the point is, I've known him a long time. He is one of the

smartest makes me think, and he's a no bullshit guy, right? And that's the whole point of the smartest. It makes me think.
