Joe, on this Friday morning. It is just before 6 a.m. out on the West Coast, 9 a.m. here in the

east. And we have a packed hour ahead. In just a few minutes, a federal appeals court will hear arguments in the fight over President Trump's proposed White House ballroom.

The administration is making national security, its main argument, to continue construction, specifically pointing to the April 25th shooting at the White House Correspondence Dinner.

In court documents, the government argues, quote, such unacceptable threats to the president's life and to the continuity of government

will persist because the president has no secure facility capable of hosting large-scale events

on the White House grounds. But the National Trust for Historic Preservation,

the nonprofit organization that brought the lawsuit, has pushed back on that assertion,

saying a massive new ballroom isn't a national security necessity. Also, the correspondence

that are shooting was at a hotel in Washington. It was never going to be at the White House.
