On Monday, former President Donald Trump delivered a statement by a video outlining his

position on abortion given all that's transpired since his previous term and the

overturning of Roe v. Wade. The statement exemplified what might be called America's worldview problem.

A problem that's at the root of our cultural confusions about sex, morality, marriage, and identity.

In fact, the most repeated idea by the president in his short speech was variations of a slogan,

Follow Your Heart, a motto that Professor Thaddeus Williams has identified to be the central heresy of the false religion of self-worship.

At the very least, it's a slogan that provides insufficient ground for adequately wrestling

with issues of such grave importance like abortion and in vitro fertilization.

In fact, one of the most helpful aspects of President Trump's statement is that it contains

so many of the wrong assumptions, half-trues, and misguided assumptions about our

country's most pressing moral issues all in one place. For example, President

Trump proclaimed in this speech his support for, and I I quote the availability of IVF for couples trying to have a precious baby

But he did not specify which couples should have access to IVF, or for what reasons?

By failing to distinguish between same-sex couples and heterosexual couples here, the President

only reinforce one of the more dangerous assumptions that dominates our society, especially when it comes to

artificial reproductive technologies, namely that the happiness of adults should be prioritized

and chosen over and above the well-being of children.

And make no mistake, it is same-sex couples whose demand is largely motivating and driving the

quote-unquote supply of artificial reproductive technologies like IVF today.

The former president also said that IVF provides couples with a precious baby.
