Psalm chapter 131, verses 1 through 3.

O Lord, my heart is not lifted up.

My eyes are not raised too high.

I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.

But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned

child with its mother. Like a weaned child is my soul within me. Oh, Israel, hope in the Lord,

from this time forth and forevermore. That's the whole Psalm, those three verses, and it's one of my favorite

psalms. The psalmist saying, David specifically here saying, my heart's not lifted up, my eyes not

raised too high, I don't occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. In other words,

there are many things I don't understand,

that I don't comprehend, that I can't see, that I'm in the dark on. Just think about that in

your life. Things you just don't understand why this has happened or this is happening. And

you struggle to see where is the good in that?

Like, you just can't see it.

It's too beyond your sight.

But verse 2 says, but I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother.

Like a weaned child is my soul within me.

What a picture of David saying,

but I am like a little baby resting in my mother's arms.

That's how quiet my soul is.
