Hello my friends and welcome to true heroes. Today is Corpus Christi, but we are going to look at the life of St. Barnabas

whose feast would be today if it weren't for Corpus Christi, which is actually still a very fitting occurrence, that we should

consider the life of one who was so close to the body of Christ. Let us begin his story.

Barnabas, a Jew of Cyprus and named Joseph, sold his property, gave the proceeds to the apostles,

who gave him the name Barnabas, which means son of encouragement, and lived in common

with the earliest converse to Christianity in Jerusalem.

He comes as close as anyone outside the 12 apostles to be

a full-fledged apostle. He persuaded the community there to accept Paul as a disciple, was sent

to Antioch, Syria, to look into the community there and brought Paul there from Tarsus.

When a Christian community developed at Antioch, Barnabas was sent as the official representative

of the Church of Jerusalem to incorporate them into the fold.
