It's late December in Alaska and the sun's about to set for the final time this year.

A host of strange events precede the sun's dipping below the horizon,

including strange animal behavior, possible water contamination,

and eight scientists working at an Arctic research station disappear from their posts.

They're later found by a local one frozen who has led to their dead bodies by a man named Travis, who is also deceased. Working the case is Liz Danvers, a local cop with a complex web of

relationships to the officers working in her department. Joining her is Evangeline Navarro, who used to work on the same force but was transferred

to another branch of police work because she could not let go the disappearance of a native woman

six years ago.

There's an apparent connection between the murdered woman and the eight scientists,

Sunday night when I watched it

We'll see if they go back and retroactively change those titles, but we're here to talk about the

episode at length. Where do you want to start off with this conversation. I guess what did we think? True Detective is back on the

air. I quite liked it. I thought this felt like a true detective episode to me, both in quality and content, I guess.

This new setting is unsettling, which I like.

I will say it does feel slightly different

from True Detective in some ways.
