Doing really well. Not a big Halloween fan, but feeling kind of festive.

Feeling ready for some scary movies, some candy.

Safe candy, by the way.

Yeah, none of the needles inside of it, like what we were told to happen when I was a kid.

What were we getting into today, my man?

Let's hear about it because I've never actually heard of the case where there was like a razor blade in your candy.

So not a razor blade here, but this is a really horrifying event that happened that essentially set the stage for all of those fears.

We mistrust Halloween candies. We were always told somebody's going to look for needle holes because somebody's going to inject your Hershey bar with poison or look for a needle inside of your Reese cup or a razor blade inside of whatever.

Like that was like put instilled into me early on.

You can go to the hospital and get your candy x-ray to make sure it was safe.

And like you said, there aren't many documented cases of any of that happening.

But what we're going to talk about is one of the few documented cases where candy was actually poisoned.

And it's not for a stranger.

So our story begins in Harris County, Texas in the late 70s, and that's when a sinister crime would be committed on Halloween night.

Ronald Clark O'Brien, later dubbed the candy man, was accused of a horrific act that continues to haunt many people in the United States.

And honestly, it was something that I heard about growing up and even to this day, I preach it to my children.

Halloween is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be a time for you to go to strangers housing get candy and treats.
