We are recording this on Sunday, February 6th in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Christine.

And for the last eight, nine days at this point.

There have been protests in Ottawa that have essentially shut down the entire downtown

core of the city we live in.

Ottawa is a city of over a million people and it's where our federal politicians live

and work and a lot of public servants, including us, we work for Statistics Canada.

But it's also a city of a lot of non-governmental people, normal people who feel like their city

has been taken over by protests, a lot of anxiety, feel like they can't leave the house, non-stop

honking.

And this is in our backyard, right?

I think the first question is, what are we talking about?

Why are we talking about this?

It's partly because it's in our backyard.

But for me, it's also because I've noticed online, there seems to be a real lack of understanding.

I guess this isn't, this is getting some media attention in the states now.

These truck convoy freedom protests and we're starting to see them pop up elsewhere.

But at least in the beginning, I noticed a lot of people having a pretty simplistic view

of what was going on here in both directions.
