| 0:00.0 | Hey everyone, I'm Chris Hall and you're listening to the downtime podcast where we delve deep into the gravity-based side of mountain biking. |
| 0:10.1 | First up, I want to thank our supporting partners who make the podcast possible and today that's Leia and Magura. |
| 0:16.1 | Here's Leatt's founder, Dr Chris Leatt, with a quick message. |
| 0:19.5 | Hi, this is Dr Leet, here of the Leet Lab. |
| 0:22.5 | You will notice that all our Learth helmets are equipped with Leet's patented 360 turbine technology. |
| 0:28.7 | So what is this? |
| 0:30.2 | Learter has long since recognised that not all helmets are created equal |
| 0:33.8 | and that ideally, helmets we wear should cater for high velocity impacts, rotational |
| 0:39.7 | accelerations as well as lower velocity impacts. |
| 0:43.5 | So to repeat those three impact scenarios again, high velocity impacts, rotational accelerations |
| 0:50.0 | and lower velocity impacts. |
| 0:52.7 | Our helmets shells and EPS liners are optimized for high impact |
| 0:57.0 | magnitudes, as are most helmets. But Leert's innovative multiple 360 turbine additions are strategically |
| 1:04.8 | placed to do more than helmets without. Our turbines deform to dampen the effects of rotational acceleration. This is the |
| 1:14.0 | component that often produces severe traumatic brain injuries. Uniquely to lower velocity impacts, |
| 1:21.0 | they may cause concussion and the long-term effects of these multiple lower speed impacts |
| 1:26.2 | are also protected with our 360 turbine technology. |
| 1:31.1 | If you want to check out Layout's range of 360 turbine equipped helmets, then you can do that |
| 1:35.2 | over at layat.com. That's L-E-A-T-T-T dot com and you can get hold of them at your local bike shop or |
| 1:41.3 | online. I'm sure you'll have heard me say that I've been using the Megura MT7 Pro brakes all year. After a good chunk of time on them, I can honestly say they're the best brakes I've ever used. The power is incredible, but it's completely controllable, and they're the only brakes that I've been able to keep working just as well as when I first fitted them. I used the performance pads, and the pad life has been been really good and I found them super easy to bleed too. Since fitting them, I have never had to worry about being able to slow down. In addition to all of that, Megura have their customise your brake program which means you can get the brakes set up perfectly for you. There are multiple options for lever shape, pad compound, disc and some aesthetic changes to match perfectly with your ride. |
| 2:19.3 | I found that the best set up for me is the standard performance pads with the H.C. wide-reach lever, which was designed for Loew-Bruny, but works really well for me too. |
| 2:28.3 | Also, Megura have just launched some seriously amazing technology alongside Bosch, providing the first ever |
