Hey everyone, a quick note before we begin.

Today's episode deals with racism, and in order for our narrator to share her story fully,

she brings up a few derogatory terms that she herself encountered.

In the leafy residential Paris suburb where Linlandaul grew up, there weren't many other

Vietnamese families like hers around.

At school, Linlanda was one of the only Asian kids.

She was often the butt of school yard jokes.

Whatever she saw, training her parents later grew jokes about her!

The other day younger siblings came the same time as we two raised cows in front of

this café.

There were usually people like her sister we had to laugh at, but we guys usually don't

answer.

And women were not shocked by that, and they ate this mouse.

When the other guys used to say they were the one asking for that,

they brushed it off.

Don't pay attention to them, focus on your studies, they told her.

So Lynn Lon tried to brush it off too.

When it happened again, she stopped telling her parents.

In my family, we didn't talk much about our feelings.

But parents never asked me, how did you start with your class friends?

For my parents, the most important thing was to have good grades at school.
