But the telling of their stories and history have become almost like caricature sketches

with exaggerations galore. Daniel Boone is one of those bigger than life historical figures.

Well, many of these books and movies feature exaggerations of Daniel's real adventures.

So let me introduce you to the true story of an amazing American, Daniel Boone.

Daniel knew the forest like the back of his hand and he knew how to deal with wild animals

and Native Americans. You know, he was born in 1734. His parents,

Squire and Sarah Boone, were part of the Quaker community. Quakers believe in living simply and

peacefully. Well, young Daniel grew up in the woods on the western border of the colony of

Pennsylvania. He was number six of 11 children and he and his siblings grew up playing with the

friendly Native tribes children who lived in the forest around their family's home.

Well, Daniel and his siblings were all homeschooled by their parents and their mother taught them
