0:09.0 | Yesterday we had the closing arguments in the Derek Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd |
0:18.0 | and now the case is with the jury. |
0:21.0 | Now if the jury is going to render a just verdict, |
0:26.0 | one that is consistent with the facts and the evidence presented during trial, |
0:31.0 | they would come back with not guilty on all three counts. |
0:37.0 | But unfortunately, I do not believe that the jury is going to be capable of ignoring all the emotion |
0:45.0 | and everything that is going on and render a just verdict. |
0:51.0 | So there's going to be a lot of pressure on a number of jurors to convict. |
0:55.0 | The question is, will a conviction be unanimous, which of course is what is required in order to convict, |
1:02.0 | or will there be a few jurors who hold out for a just verdict despite all of the external pressures for a conviction? |
1:13.0 | Now of course, if there really was justice in this case, there wouldn't even be a trial. |
1:20.0 | Because based on the evidence, there never should have been a prosecution. |
1:25.0 | Because the government is not supposed to prosecute somebody that they don't actually believe committed a crime. |
1:33.0 | And there is no way that you could objectively look at this evidence and conclude that Chauvin is guilty of murder. |
1:40.0 | In fact, all you have to do is look at the autopsy report that was prepared by Dr. Baker. |
1:50.0 | And Dr. Baker is the single most important medical witness in this case. |
1:56.0 | None of the other doctors that the prosecution called, I think you completely disregard everything that they're saying because they're hired guns. |
2:07.0 | And even if they weren't hired, they're guns. They're people who are trying to make a name for themselves by being one of the good guys and showing that they're not racist by blaming this death on Chauvin and his knee and exphyxiation. |
2:24.0 | And in fact, I think that it's even a mistrial and there's so many different ways for a appeal on this case. |
2:34.0 | But that's one of them in that the prosecution is putting witness after witness after witness up on that stand to basically say the exact same thing. |
2:45.0 | I mean, why do you need so many medical experts to all say that Floyd died of exphyxiation? |
