0:12.6	In the week of last week's verdict, as alarming as it is, it isn't exactly surprising how
0:17.4	Donald Trump and all of his acolytes have been spending their time.
0:21.6	Attacking the system that held him accountable with escalating dangerous rhetoric, targeting
0:26.3	everyone from DA Bragg to the judge and even the everyday, the 12 everyday Americans who
0:32.2	served as jurors. Trump and his buddies are even claiming, once again, this is a favorite of theirs,
0:39.5	that the system must be rigged.
0:49.8	Yet their claims of a rigged justice system couldn't be farther from the truth, and we're going to dig into that, because lucky for us, former U.S. Attorney, Prie Pira, is standing by to set the record straight.
0:59.6	Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is also going to join me to talk about the Republicans who put party over country far too many these days and what Democrats should be doing in this moment.
1:04.9	And Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report will break down the political implications of all of this for November.
1:09.5	But first, I want to start with a little bit of a thought experiment.
1:11.9	About this whole rigged argument,
1:17.6	Trump is spewing out there, let's consider for a moment that we live in an alternate universe.
1:22.3	I believe my colleague Rachel Maddow calls this Earth 2, the one Donald Trump is pushing,
1:29.3	in response to his 34 felony convictions. I mean, the gist of his argument is this. The Department of Justice is effectively a partisan mob on a witch hunt. Trump says President Biden is behind his prosecution
1:34.8	in order to, quote, wound him before November's election. But if that were all true, and to be
1:40.6	absolutely clear, it is not true, things would probably look quite different.
1:45.0	I mean, for starters, the Justice Department does not have anything to do with this case.
1:49.7	The case was entirely located within New York, where the crime took place.
1:54.1	Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who brought the case, does not even work for
1:58.2	President Biden or the Department of Justice.
2:03.2	The decision was his and his alone.
