And by we, I mean me in my studio alone right now. That sounds more depressing than it is. No, I'm just working on a new record, so I'm deep

in the zone here. But it's the 100th episode. So I'm celebrating. I'm having a good time.

Honestly, it's insane to me that this is the 100th episode. I've been doing this for five years

or something like that now, and I still feel like just yesterday, I interviewed Joe Satriani

for my first episode. That sounds so cliche. It feels like just yesterday, but it honestly does.

It does. Time has flown by. But it's been incredible. I've learned a lot from a lot of the people that I've got to interview,

but also in a lot of ways, I've just, there was a lot of artists that reinforced what many

of us are already kind of in tune with somewhere deep down inside to begin with, but it's nice over and over and over again.

Basically, every one of these hundred interviews, a resounding piece of advice that people give

is to do something compelling that feels uniquely you and that feels like making true art,

something that brings you fulfillment

deep in your soul rather than just like playing fast and playing technical or like chasing fame or

money i think anybody that i've interviewed every one of them has had the sentiment of oh yeah you just

have to have something that stands out as uniquely you.

Like, that's how you cut through the noise.

And a lot of people have said, you know, like, I never want to watch just some guy playing really fast.

Or I'm like, ah, actually, I do.

Once.

And then it's just like, cool.

That was fun to see that person do that thing.

But it didn't really move me.

It didn't feel like art.
