Trevor Lawrence is the most hyped quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck.

Well, we better hope his rookie season goes better than luck.

I'm joined by Jacob Gibbs.

This is the first of two player profiles on FFT and 5 for the weekend. It's

going to be a couple of Jaguars. It's Trevor Lawrence today. It's Leviska-Shanalt tomorrow,

and they are obviously linked, but we'll tell you why from a more statistically inclined

perspective. Okay, so Jacob, yeah, Lawrence, now we had a good season from Burrow, a great season from Herbert,

Mayfield had a good rookie season, but what can you tell us about Trevor Lawrence?

What do the stats say about him?

Yeah, so obviously the stats are insanely impressive for Lawrence.

We've never seen him do anything but dominate every, you know,

single step along the way. But I was really excited to see specifically how we would do last year

without, you know, some of the insane personnel that he had around him, T. Higgins and Justin Ross,

specifically not in the field anymore. And one thing that stood out in kind of looking at his

numbers last year compared to the two years prior was that the deep ball aggressiveness in terms of how often he was thrown downfield was definitely scaled back without Higgins and Ross on the field.

So his average depth of target fell from 9.6 yards in 2019 down to 8.5, which was the lowest of any of his three years there.

And then the percentage of his throws that traveled 10, 15, or 20 plus air yards were all career lows as well.

And his actually, his A-DOT and his deep rate were both well below the leak average in 2020,

which I thought was pretty interesting and not something that I hear people talk about a lot.
