Hello everybody. Welcome once again to the weekly show podcast. My name is John Stewart. We're recording on a Wednesday. I'm even going to tell you around the time. It's around noon. I want to tell you the time because last time we recorded on a Wednesday, I thought, well, geez, something, you know, just let him know it's on a Wednesday and it'll be out on Thursday Thursday and obviously by Wednesday night there was the

horrific assassination and not addressed it anyway in the podcast because of that. So I'm preemptively

suggesting that we don't know what happens in 24 hours anymore in this general shit show of a society that we're that we're working on now?

On a positive note, Colbert won an Emmy, the late show, well deserved, thank goodness.

It was lovely to see the response from the audience in Los Angeles and in the country showing much deserved love.

Much deserved, well earned and and and it it was really lovely to watch and I thought his words were were perfect and and beautiful and a you know

a little bit of a tonic in what is just a sad, it's difficult to even muster the kind of necessary

performative enthusiasm for these types of intrusions at some level.

One thing I should mention is I hope people realize that shit posting after tragedies is not mandatory.
