Hey, deserving listeners, just me today. I thought I would answer some patron emails,

0:03.6

this first email is from annual patron Maria from Washington. She says,

0:08.2

can you speak to the Travis Scott Astral World festival tragedy that happened recently?

0:14.6

We have witnessed on the internet a number of heartbreaking news stories throughout the past couple

0:20.0

years, but there's something about this specific event that I find incredibly troubling.

0:26.0

At random moments, I am overwhelmed with anxiety and have the urge to cry thinking about what

0:31.2

happened. I've spoken with others about it, and they seem to have the same response trying

0:37.5

1:25.1

this month, there was a music festival called Astral World Festival in Houston. It was founded

1:32.0

in 2018 by Travis Scott, who was a hip-hop artist. Travis Scott runs the festival and what happened

1:43.2

in early November 2021. It started off with things happening already in the morning people

1:54.7

broke barriers and rushed into the venue, but the real tragedy happened during Travis Scott's concert.

2:04.0

There were thousands upon thousands, you know, just a huge, huge concert with just so many people,

2:09.2

and there was a huge press of the crowd forward towards the stage, and those people who were in

2:18.5

the front and they were trapped against the railings were either being crushed or trampled on,
