The Wall Street Journal's reporter Evan Gershkovich, currently jailed in Russia, faces his espionage trial today after being imprisoned for over a year. The United States declared Gershkovich wrongfully detained, despite Russia's claims that he was working as a spy and not a journalist. The Journal also rejects the espionage charge, calling it a bogus claim. Since Evan was first detained, the media organization has been urging for his safe return. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been freed from prison in England after reaching a plea deal with the United States. The bargain ends a years-long saga in the United States seeking the extradition of Assange on espionage charges. Assange is set to appear in front of a United States' court in Saipan, where he will be sentenced to time served, and then travel back to his home country of Australia.
