Show of a very special guest. Her name is Joe Patty Munisteri, and she is publishing a book in a couple months.

She's actually going to be traveling. So we're going to talk about this book before it's published in October.

The title of the book is Traveling Off the X. And it's about her journeys really all over the world,

including Romania, Morocco, Tikal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Borneo.

So she's definitely covered some territory.

She's also a fiction writer and a poet as well.

So she can talk about those books in greater detail.

But I haven't read the book, but I'm definitely interested to hear what she says.

Well, I'm glad.

I'm delighted that we got together kind of in difficult circumstances for me to have this interview.

But for people who may not know your background,

can you talk about your travels all over the world and what led you to write this book, Traveling Offi X?

Yes. Thank you, William. I'm right now in Bethel, Alaska, for those of you who know where that is.

I came from a family which moved quite a bit

because of my father's work. We moved 13 times before I was 11, and I'm the oldest of six

children, four brothers and a sister. I went to Georgetown Foreign Service School. I graduated from there,

and while I was at Georgetown, I also, I liked to travel and I also was working there. So the only way to do that, our parents at that time certainly couldn't afford to give us trips to Europe and so forth was I applied for a lot of fellowships and contests, which I won. And so my first real travel by myself
