for Thursday, June 5th. President Donald Trump announced his banning most citizens of 12 countries from entering the U.S.,

and it's already facing backlash.

The countries caught up in the ban include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Haiti and Yemen.

Plus, nationals from another seven countries, including Venezuela and Cuba, will face partial restrictions.

I asked C.Nanzalina Trin what the response has been so far.

Yeah, Charlie, this ban actually goes further than the travel ban that he imposed during his first term,

which bar travelers from seven majority Muslim nations.

This one is much more broad and like the first one, is expected to face significant legal challenges.

But look, a White House official tells us that the president made the final call on this proclamation after the anti-Semitic attack in Boulder, Colorado over the weekend. This is something I know the Trump administration had been considering for some time now,

but that really spread up the process.

Now the suspect in that attack is an Egyptian national.

Notably, though, Egypt is not one of the countries on that banned list.
