If you wonder why you keep lashing out at your kids or returning to that sin or dealing with

pornography, you've got to understand these things are not random. They're deeply tied to broken

hardness we've experienced with these longings. Jesus wants to gently set us free and heal us.

I've had a longing for 40 years.

You know what it is?

Anybody that knows you would know what this is.

Go ahead, tell them what my longing has been for 40 years.

What do you guys think it would be?

During the audio, I have not, I have not said anything to you guys about what I'm going to say. What do you think my longing is? Championship ring. Detroit Lions Super Bowl victory. Bruce, would you have said that? I thought maybe like son in the NFL, but you kind of already got that. Got what?

Son in the NFL. Yeah, one of our kids got to play. I also thought something about music. I thought maybe like, yeah, no. Well, if it was music. If it was music, it would be. Oh, it'd be something with Paul McCarty. If I could sit down with Paul McCarty. Jam with him on stage. He's the only guy I think I would get an autograph from.

I could care less about autographs and I wouldn't get one from him. But Ben, forget all that. That was just a funny way to talk about longings. Okay, with that lightness. Or is it a desire? You know, is it the need or a desire? Well, you're the guy. What's the longing then? Yep. What would you say his longing?

What would be different or a desire? Well, you're the guy. What's the longing then? Yep. What would you say his longing, what would be different than a longing or a desire and a need? A lot of times I use longing synonymous with need. But I think there are... I like that. It's a need. Not a want. It's a need. But it depends how you define a longing.

I think what you're talking about is desire. And there can be good desires. There can be unhealthy desires. There can be, well, I guess that's all there is. Those too. But I talk,

we talk about seven longings or seven relational needs.
