Hello, Bridgetown Church, and as of you joining us online, if we haven't met yet, my name

is Bethany Allen, and I'm one of the leaders here at Bridgetown.

In light of our current moment, we know that many are facing varying and new relational

and emotional and spiritual realities in light of COVID-19.

Life in quarantine, social distancing, and all that comes with it is complex to say the

least.

And so we thought it could be helpful to offer up some of our in-house resources around

transitions and grief and loss, really in the hopes that it will serve and help us as

the church best navigate and steward these really unprecedented times.

Now why these two topics specifically?

Well, if we take inventory of the moment, it becomes pretty apparent that we are in

both on a global and local scale, a transition, or maybe better said many transitions.

The landscape of change before us is unknown, and it is still ever evolving.

And so we thought it would be helpful to lay out a framework, provide a few tools, for

how to define and navigate this moment, and the many more moments that lay ahead of us.

Next and maybe this one is a bit more obvious in light of a pandemic, but right now, no

matter who or where you are, there is, and will be a very real dynamic of grief and loss.

It is a part of the fabric of our lives, present and future.

We are in real time experiencing an unprecedented amount of loss collectively and individually,

which means, especially for us as apprentices of Jesus, there is, and again, will be a very

real need to work through and steward our pain.
