0:06.8	And today we're going to hear an inspiring story about helping vulnerable fatherless children through foster care.
0:12.9	Welcome to Focus on the Family with Jim Daly. I'm John Fuller. And Jim, this is a real opportunity for us here.
0:18.5	It is. You know, the estimates are there's about 370,000 now in
0:23.0	foster care. That's down from when we started our efforts with Wait No More. I think the number
0:28.2	was about 410,000. So it's like the awareness is up. Churches are becoming more aware of the
0:34.2	importance of engaging in foster care and foster adoption. And that's a great thing.
0:39.3	And I'm so proud of our team here at Focus on the Family. Dr. Sharon Ford is leading that effort.
0:44.9	And man, it's just waking up every day and trying to make sure that people are aware of the
0:50.9	need in foster care. There's so many ways people can help, and we're
0:54.3	going to talk about that today with our great guests that have done it. And I'm looking
0:59.4	forward to our discussion to help people think about ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
1:06.0	And it's so easy to go and listen to a great sermon and be inspired in your life and take care of your family.
1:12.9	The next step is how do we take the Holy Spirit out into community? There's nobody more vulnerable
1:19.2	with greater chaos than the foster system. They need Christians to bring God's shalom into that world.

1:30.2	They have a lot of experience in this realm, helping kids in foster care.
1:34.5	It's a big part of their ministry.
1:35.6	They have six children, and Bob founded an organization called One Hope Together, which supports foster families.
1:42.5	He's currently a pastor in the Washington, D.C. suburbs.
1:46.3	Wendy is an ordained minister and public speaker, and together they've written a book
1:49.8	called Fostering Jesus answering the call to foster care in the home and church.
