Summary

Welcome to the newest Wednesday Podcast! On Wednesdays, I get to talk with members of the Organize 365 community as they share the challenges, progress, missteps, and triumphs along their organizing journey. You can see and hear transformation in action. I look forward to helping YOU get Organized!

This week I am sharing my conversation with Laurie W. She lives with her husband. They are empty nesters with boys who come home frequently for long visits. Laurie found Organize 365® through the podcast. She was about to start working on organizing her youngest son's room while listening to an episode of the podcast when she heard me say to work first on the room where you spend the most time. Laurie dropped everything and moved to the living room to start her journey to a lasting organization. We talk about the pandemic, family working from home, organizing storage spaces, how bigger houses just mean more places to put things, Sunday Basket® insights, The Paper Solution® book, Home Planning Day, and more.

Can you relate to Laurie's story? Are you an empty nester ready to take advantage of this golden window? Are you surrounded by family working and schooling from home? Are you struggling to get your Sunday Basket® habit started?

I am grateful that you are reaching out to share your stories and progress with me and with the Organize 365® community. If you are ready to share your story with us, please apply at https://organize365.com/wednesday

Welcome to the organized 365 podcast. I'm your host, professional organizer, productivity

expert, and motivational speaker, Lisa Woodruff. This podcast will help you embrace progress

0:18.8

over perfection and create lasting, functional organizing in your home. I have so much to share

0:25.3

with you. So let's get started. Laurie, welcome to the organized 365 podcast.

0:32.2

Lisa, it's a pleasure to be here, truly. How did you first find organized 365?

0:39.8

So I found you in the summer of 2019, and as my usual system, the house would get to

0:48.3

be a little too much. And I would kick everyone out of the house and plan on spending the

0:52.7

day, you know, just deep diving into it. And I always started in the room that I felt

0:57.6

was the easiest, which was my youngest son's room, because it's closer to the smallest.

1:02.3

And it was just the easiest room to start in. I always used to listen to something, and

1:07.7

I looked for a podcast that had to do with organizing. And I found you, and I don't remember

1:13.6

what episode it was, but all of a sudden, as I'm listening to you, you started to say,

1:19.7

never do, don't start your organizing in the child's room. And I thought, wait, what?

1:26.0

And it was because you said, if you start in a room that you love or that you're in all

1:31.8

the time, the organizing will stick and it will perpetuate itself. And you were right.

1:38.4

I put everything down and I went into the living room.

1:41.3

Oh my gosh. Well, that's pretty quick. So you found the podcast. That's how you found

1:45.8

me first. I found the podcast. Yes. And then I used to commute a couple hours, a few

1:52.3

times a week. And I really started to really get into it. I mean, I went back to, I started

1:58.8

listening to all of the old ones and, you know, I just was hooked to the podcast for

2:03.8

a great way to get in. So you mentioned you were in your son's bedroom. So you obviously

2:09.4

don't live alone who lives with you in your house. So technically, my husband and I have
