Summary

Welcome to the newest Wednesday Podcast! On Wednesdays, I get to talk with members of the Organize 365 community as they share the challenges, progress, missteps, and triumphs along their organizing journey. You can see and hear transformation in action. I look forward to helping YOU get Organized!

This week, I am sharing my interview with Laurie R. She lives with her husband and three kids, including one with special needs. When Laurie lost her job in 2015, she looked for organizing podcasts to listen to and found Organize 365®. At the time she was frustrated because her 1800s-era home had no closets and everything felt cluttered. You might be surprised to learn that she actually tackled her paper management first! We talk about Swiss cheese organizing, how hiring a house cleaner is a form of accountability, and permission to let go of things.

Laurie also gave a great tip for creating a "jobs binder" to hold copies of professional licensure paperwork, performance reviews, and portfolio samples.

I am grateful that you are reaching out to share your stories and progress with me and with the Organize 365 community. If you are ready to share your story with us, please apply at https://organize365.com/wednesday.

much. I'm really looking forward to our conversation, but first, can you tell everyone, how did

0:39.4

you first find organized 365? So in 2015, I lost my job and came home and I felt like everything

0:49.6

was out of, like, there's so much out of control when that happens. And I'm a very controlling

0:54.8

person in my personal life. I have a lot to control. So having that feeling was very anxiety

1:02.1

rising for me. Some of the things I could control, like I turned off our direct TV and I

1:07.8

stopped Netflix, like all those little tiny money things that I could do. And I found myself

1:13.8

just like lost for entertainment. So I started searching for podcasts. And I always loved

1:20.2

organizing things. That's just something I like to do. So I, some reason, searched organizing,

1:25.5

and I found the organized 365 podcast. So that was seven years ago. That was pre-sunday

1:30.4

basket, I think. Oh, my goodness. Yeah, that was brilliant. I mean, that was right when the

1:35.1

podcast started the most. I think so. Yeah. Because I remember when you and your mom, like, I don't

1:39.8

remember if you did like a Facebook glide or something and you were in your kitchen, like, developing

1:44.5

the Sunday best, like I was watching that. So, oh, my God. Yeah, that was a long time ago. I was just

1:50.5

looking at our Instagram highlights. In the Instagram highlights, if you go to the Sunday basket,

1:54.7

I show you how we created the prototype in there. It's really old. It's like three years old on

1:59.1

Instagram and the highlights. I was like, oh, I was like, do I take this down? I was like, no,

2:02.6

it's kind of interesting. So you've been on the journey with me. Sorry that you lost your job,

2:07.9

but glad you found us. Yeah. I've got a better job now. Anyway, but yeah, I've been with you for
