You know that we love transferable points. These are

points where you can transfer them to airline or hotel programs so that when you see a great

award that's available from one of any of many programs, you could transfer those points there

and book that valuable award. But things have been

changing a lot in the transferable point space. So what we used to think we knew about which

programs were great, maybe aren't as great anymore, and some that we were not too excited about

are getting better. So in today's main event, we'll talk about how those things are changing.

I have a semi-major Mayaculpah to share. So a few days ago, before we publish this podcast, we published a question of the week

episode where we talked about whether or not you could kind of avoid Hyatt's category increases

by making a reservation now and changing the dates later. And the answer to the question

we got right, that that won't work when you go to make a change to the dates later. And the answer to the question we got right, that that won't work

when you go to make a change to the dates, it'll cause the reservation to reprice. However,

I went on in that answer to mention Hyatt points advance, which is a feature that perhaps fewer

people are aware of. Certainly if you have global status and possibly even

with other statuses, you can call Hyatt and make a points advance reservation, even if you

don't have enough points, or this really is for when you don't have enough points in your account.
