Summary
Despite political attacks and threats to our safety, trans people are still living full, complex and beautiful lives in the United States.
In this special episode, Imara introduces TransLash Wire, our new written platform dedicated to original journalism centering trans perspectives from corners of the country that are often overlooked. To celebrate the launch of this new initiative, Imara has a meaningful conversation with Morgan Peterson, a youth support worker in Sioux Falls, who shares how trans kids are surviving and thriving in South Dakota. Then, our host sits down with Wilson and Miss B Haven for a colorful and moving conversation about what life is like for this T4T couple in Durham, North Carolina.

| 0:28.0 | called TransLash Wire. It will allow us to do what we do in this podcast, telling trans stories |
| 0:33.9 | to save trans lives, but to do so in a new format because we know that so many people |
| 0:38.6 | are returning to written journalism in this moment in order to get depth and to understand |
| 0:44.4 | what's going on in really powerful ways. Now, TransLwire is going to look for untold trans stories, |
| 0:52.6 | especially those in the plain states and the South. |
| 0:55.8 | We want to do so in a way that digs deep into the implications of everything that's going on |
| 1:01.9 | in terms of the impact on trans people, as well as the way that trans people are standing up in this |
| 1:06.7 | moment and finding a way forward, despite all of the pressure and all of the darkness. |
| 1:12.6 | So as part of our Trans-Sashwire launch, we are bringing three of the people that are |
| 1:18.1 | profiled in our very first piece to this program to have a conversation about their lives |
| 1:25.3 | and what's going on. And in general, to touch upon some of the things that you'll be able to dive even deeper |
| 1:31.7 | into in the piece, which is called trans voices from around the country. |
| 1:37.6 | And given the state of the country in this moment, as we come up on the July 4th weekend, |
| 1:43.7 | we think that hearing from trans people all across |
| 1:46.5 | America is the best way to perhaps celebrate the nation's birthday. So first, I'm joined by Morgan, |
| 1:54.0 | a South Dakota-based advocate, to talk about what it's like to work with trans youth there. |
| 1:58.2 | I think the most meaningful thing that I do for people is show them that it's possible to live |
| 2:04.6 | a fulfilling life in this state as a trans person, as a genderqueer person. |
