Does your dog get frantic, throwing all sorts of behaviors at you one after another when you want to train or teach a new trick? Helping your dog with stimulus control is the key to success. Stimulus control is when your dog does something until you give a release word or a new cue.

Do you have a dog who loves treats and goes crazy when you want to train them to do something,

teach a new trick or even ask them to do the tricks they know?

They just start throwing all these tricks at you one after another.

And that's not what you want.

right? Well, what your dog is lacking is something called stimulus control, meaning if I ask

you to do something, you do it until I give you either a release word or a new cue. With

my dog's swagger, I can ask him to sit, stand, back, bow.

He can do all sorts of things one right after another and he never mixes it up and he doesn't

start until I ask him to start.

That's what we want and that's what I want from all my dogs.

When you just have a frantic dog trying to offer you everything,

it really hurts your training. So let's fix that right now. All right. So I'm going to take

my puppy. This, can you hop it up? Before I start working any behavior, the first thing I do

is evaluate what does the foundation look like of that behavior that we're starting with.

So let's say I was going to work on getting her to shake a paw or wave.
