0:00.0 | We are approaching Thanksgiving, and you know, we're just going to get a little jump on it and say we are thankful for all the listeners one for actually downloading this thing and persevere. |
0:11.0 | We don't know if anybody's ever made it to the end, but we do, unlike Barclays, we may or may not have many finishers on this podcast. |
0:19.0 | We don't know that, but what I can tell you is you go to TrailRunnerNation, click on the Partners page, and you'll find the list of valuable and trusted companies that we endorse. |
0:31.0 | We've talked about it before. We're closing the TrailRunnerNation store, not because there isn't great gear there, including the sleeves and the beanies and the buffs, the hats. |
0:40.0 | It's all there, $10 for everything. We need more time to run, and running to the post office isn't what we had in mind. |
0:47.0 | So come take advantage of this, it's Christmas time, buy some stuff for yourself, buy some stuff for your running partners, and they'll think that you're generous. |
0:55.0 | We love the gear and can't wait to share it with you. |
0:59.0 | Have you ever walked into a conversation, kind of the last guy in, and you have to pick up on what's going on? |
1:06.0 | It's hard to do. We do it all the time. Well, guess what? We get to do the same thing in this podcast because we join in just as Chad is introducing his friend Sean. |
1:17.0 | So let's take a listen. I've got a ton of excuses why this happened. None of them interesting or relevant. |
1:24.0 | So here is my edit free intro as we leap into this conversation. Welcome to another edition of TrailRunnerNation. |
1:31.0 | My name is Don Freeman. He is Scott. We're listening right now to Chad Wright, and you'll remember his voice from a podcast that we did in June of 2018. |
1:43.0 | We have Scott linking that to the show notes. And as a Navy SEAL, he had a ton of training on how to persevere when things are tough, and he dropped some of that knowledge on us in that podcast. |
1:54.0 | He's introducing his friend right now, Sean Weber, who he met at the cruel jewel race 100, and they met at the start and battled throughout the entire race together and became great friends and have taken on this new challenge of this race that we're going to hear about in New Zealand. |
2:14.0 | He's a dragon spine or the Duncan Ridge Trail, and it's basically straight to the top of a summit and then straight down to a gap and then straight back up straight back down to a gap over the course of I think it's about 15 miles. |
2:29.0 | Sean and I were neck and neck across the course of the dragon spine trail. Sean could run could move well or run uphill, and I could run downhill. So every time we go downhill, I pass Sean and every time we go uphill, Sean would pass me and we went back and forth, and it was just the epic battle of will between Sean and I. |
2:56.0 | And we both wanted to win, but we were both really just like energizing each other because and that was the final stages of the race. So just the time that I never forgot and I distinctly remember Sean saying during the race during that time as we were battling, we talked about what was going to be next for us. |
3:22.0 | You know, like what's next? Okay, this is cruel jewel. You know, what's going to be what's after this and I don't think either one of us knew at that point. |
3:32.0 | So when I was invited to come run the Revenant. |
3:40.0 | Sean was the he was he immediately popped into my head. He was the only choice as a teammate. |
3:50.0 | And he's also a Navy veteran. And just a super smart dude. We balance out each other very well. He's a better athlete than I am. So it forces me to really push myself to new levels. |
4:05.0 | So that's my best introduction to Sean and kind of our story how we met. |
