Summary

We’ve all heard about the principles of visualization and manifestation, but to many of us, it might sound a little too good to be true. Today, we’re talking to a neuroscientist who guides us through the science of visualization and tells us how it can help us reach our goals and live happier lives. Dr. Tara Swart is a neuroscientist, psychiatrist and senior lecturer at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. She works with top executives all over the world to help them achieve mental resilience and peak brain performance. Her new book, The Source: The Secrets of the Universe, the Science of the Brain, shows how you can actively change the way your mind works to train it for happiness. In this episode, you'll learn: Why it’s critical to take control over what we’re thinking about. How we can make dramatic, positive changes by changing how we think. The science behind vision boards — and how to put it into practice.

Well, I love the book that you've written. This book is absolutely amazing because I was reading it

0:52.7

and it's like the science version of the secret.

And I think we need that so much. And I wondered how you found that link between the practices

1:01.4

like visualization and manifestation and neuroscience because I think that's been missing for a lot of

1:07.3

us. Well, first of all, thank you for saying that it's like the scientific

1:11.5

version of the secret because that's like a dream come true for me. So you've actually

1:15.3

manifested something that was on my vision board. It's just that that's what people are saying.

1:19.9

Yeah. It works. Yeah, it does. I mean, I'm convinced it does. So that's like not even a question,

1:25.5

but it was matching up the science to it and having

1:27.9

people accept that. And actually what's happened is that I keep getting the same piece of

1:34.2

feedback from people. It's exact same wording, which is understanding the science compels me to

1:40.5

action. And I couldn't get, next to what you said, a better compliment than that.
