U.S. National Parks and other public lands. I'm Karen Smith.

And I'm Matt Smith. We're the authors of the Dear Bob and Sioux series of books.

Back in 2010, Matt and I took a break from our jobs and set out on a quest to visit what at the time was the 58 U.S. National Parks.

And at the end of that epic two-year journey, we wrote a book about it called Dear Bob and Sue,

which turned out to be the first of a series of four books we wrote about our travels.

Then, in early 2020, we launched this podcast by the same name

to share some of the stories from those trips,

as well as new stories from recent travels.

Yeah, one important lesson we learned was that our country has a huge number of spectacular

public lands beyond those that are designated national parks.

So in this podcast, we will also talk about national monuments,

national forests, state parks, road trips, etc.

And after our journey to all the parks, we decided we needed to learn how to camp

so we have some stories about how that went let's just say it was a slow learning
