This is something I've been thinking about for the last couple of years.

There are ideologies that are clearly opposed to Islam, like atheism, and I consider those external forces.

Our religion, it stands the test of all of these ideologies. They come and they go and Islam stands where it is.

But there is an important problem that needs to be understood also. And that is there are internal forces too.

There's also a psychological and a social and a cultural way of looking at secularism. And I think that's another

dimension of this problem that should be highlighted. In the end, the secular mind says,

you want to worship the devil? Do it. You want to worship your iPhone? Do it. You want to worship

yourself? Do it. You want to worship nothing. Who cares?

But I want to come to the psychological and the cultural aspect of secularism from Muslims.

Essentially, when you separate your religious identity from every other identity.

So when I'm at the office, I'm just an employee,

my religion impacts certain part of my life

and other parts of my life,

I'm going to operate the way I feel like operating

and the most powerful force in those other parts,

maybe my culture, maybe my family, etc., etc.

So now you can find someone who says, I love Islam, I pray five times a day,

and then there's this other part of my business that's extremely haram,

but you know what, that's just business.
