Recently DNA evidence linked the East Area Rapists to 10 killings and dozens of other rapes in Santa Barbara.

Sacramento's East Area Rapist has been active for 16 months.

Sacramento's infamous East Area Rapist may still be in town.

He raped a 29-year-old housewife near the Ignacio Valley Shopping Center at 5.30 this morning.

Her husband was tied up nearby and had to listen.

Her eight-year-old daughter was locked in the bathroom. Conkered police responded to 200 phone calls

in the first few hours after word got out about it. Mike Boy, KCR News. Yesterday, an arrest warrant

was issued, a complaint was filed charging that individual with two counts of murder with special circumstances for the murder of Brian and Katie Maggiore here in Sacramento in February 1978.

It is fitting that today is National DNA Day. We found the needle in the haystaff.

And it was right here in Sacramento. In a perfectly executed arrest, my detectives arrested James Joseph DiAngelo.

The young victim was attacked in her Rancho San Miguel home.

Police are urging everyone in the Concord, Walnut Creek, and San Ramon area to be on the lookout

and to report strangers in their neighborhoods who seem to be just hanging around or displaying any other suspicious

Sacramento County investigators say they're making progress into their search for the suspect

responsible for 31 rapes during the 1970s in the county. He's the East Area rapist. He attacked

dozens of women, raping some and killing others.

The attack started back in the 70s, but he still continues to elude police.

For over 40 years, countless victims have waited for justice.
