My friend Ann Champion is a lawyer, an exceptionally good lawyer, actually.

Annie has deposed right-wing paramilitaries in a Bogota prison.

She helped extricate a victim of the nexium sex cult,

and she's challenged discriminatory redistricting on behalf of minority voters in New York.

But Annie's most difficult case, her most personal case,

is one you likely haven't heard of.

In 1996, Annie's friend Laura went to a party in Bonaparte, Iowa.

Eight hours later, early in the morning of October 26th,

her body was found alongside a rural highway across the border in Missouri.

The police classified it as a homicide, but the case was never solved.

Now, 25 years later, Annie is returning to the event that changed her life.

An unsolved death that tore apart two families,

and which still hangs over the community.

People sort of felt like they kind of needed to take sides.

There were divisions in Iowa City.
