Today on Family Talk, Gary Bauer talks with Mark about his new devotional entitled, Trail Ready: 101 Devotions for Dads with Boys. Gary and Mark discuss the biblical definition of fatherhood, and the destructive societal pitfalls we have been experiencing due to diminishing the integral role that dads play in raising boys. Instead of shaming fathers for what they have not done, we need to remind them of who God created them to be.

0:25.2	on a trail? Well, you probably have. And when you first started out, you probably had to first make
0:30.4	the decision to go. Then you had to choose which trail to head to. And then perhaps
0:35.0	you woke up early so you would be walking in the cooler part of the day. That's a good decision.
0:40.0	The clothes that you chose for your expedition had to match the weather and the terrain,
0:44.5	and then you probably brought some water and maybe some sunblock and a few other safety items
0:49.2	with you as well.
0:50.6	Hopefully you let someone know where you'd be in case something were to happen to you.
0:55.0	A bit of planning does go into walking on a trail even before you get there.
0:59.0	And isn't it wonderful when you reach a point on that trail that's got a breathtaking view?
1:05.0	Perhaps it's a moment that you realize the culmination of all of your effort.
1:09.0	Maybe you even reflect a little bit on the magnificence of God's creation all around you. It's definitely a
1:14.4	reward for you to look upon. Now imagine if you did not prepare for the trail,
1:19.9	maybe you got started during the hottest part of the day.
1:23.0	Maybe you forgot your sunblock and then wound up getting a sunburn,
1:26.0	or ran out of water and you felt dehydrated.
1:29.0	Well, that is definitely not a good situation to be in.

1:35.2	issue. They're not preparing the next generation to take on the trail of life as a God-led
