It's Friday, January 5th, 2024. Tragedy rocks a small Iowa town, another effort to get Trump

kicked off another state's ballot, and did we really learn anything new about Jeffrey Epstein?

The small Iowa town of Perry was rocked by a school shooting yesterday at Perry High School's first day back from Christmas brick.

Police said a sixth grader was killed and five other people were wounded by a 17-year-old suspect in the shooting on Thursday. The suspect died of what investigators believe is a self-inflicted gunshot wound,

and at least one of the victims is a school administrator.

The suspect was identified first by online sources and then confirmed by police

as a senior at the high school by the name of Dylan Butler.

Butler was armed with a pump action

shotgun, a handgun, and an explosive device, which was undettonated and was later rendered safe

by fire marshals. A TikTok account purportedly belonging to Butler was scrubbed by the social

media company, but not before reporters were able to capture some of his postings. Butler's TikTok bio featured nothing but a rainbow flag emoji.

In other posts, he identified himself as something called non-binary.

It's not yet clear whether Butler was on any hormone-altering drugs.

Just a remarkably senseless tragedy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.

Of course,

with the Iowa caucuses less than two weeks away, lots of national media are camped out in the state covering the candidates. One of those GOP candidates, Vivek Ramoswamy, was actually scheduled

to hold a campaign event in Perry later in the morning, but canceled and converted that campaign event

into a prayer and open conversation event.

Democrats in Iowa and in the rest of the country, like clockwork, once again, called for

gun control in the wake of the tragedy.
